HooRWA’s 20th annual Riverfest has come and gone, but not forgotten. Below is a picture of one of the artists’ creations that posed on the banks of the Hoosic as part of the celebration of the River. We now have four river and stream improvement projects within the watershed that have been granted Priority Status by the Massachusetts Dept. of Fish and Game’s Division of Ecological Restoration (Riverways). Priority status allows the folks in the division to devote additional resources to the project. (See their webpage for complete details.) The Hoosic River Revival, currently developing plans for flood chute modifications in North Adams, was the most recently chosen. Earlier this fall, the Thunder Brook dam and stream restoration project in Cheshire was selected. And the Briggsville Dam removal project in Clarksburg and the Hoxie Brook day-lighting project in Adams are Priority Projects from past years.

There is a new returnable bottle & can Redemption Center in North Adams, where you can redeem your bottles and cans (run by humans, so no machine to malfunction) and get cash or donate the proceeds to local charities, run by B-Fair, a North Adams non profit as a money maker for them as well as the local charities. HooRWA is on their list so you can donate to HooRWA.
