3554 Route VT-346
UPDATE: New Tour de Pownal Route Just Added
We’ve added an “unofficial” 35-mile route to the Tour de Pownal fall bike ride for cyclists who want MORE: more river, more miles, more hills, and more fall foliage. Riders of this route will meet at 9:15 am for a 9:30 am start, a half hour before the official ride starts a 10 am.
Welcome fall and get to know the river that runs through our tri-state community with a free recreational bike tour on September 25, 2021. The ride is co-presented by the Pownal Recreation Task Force and HooRWA. The 10-mile loop begins and ends in North Pownal in the parking lot of the North Pownal Congregational Church at 3554 Route VT-346, near the bottom of North Pownal Road. The ride includes optional extensions for a 16-mile or 23-mile version of the ride. (Note: the extended routes are paved except for a one-mile section of hardpack gravel on Indian Massacre Road.) Bring snacks and water. Meet at 9:45 am for a 10 am start.
Pownal resident Julie Mackaman and HooRWA board member Lauren Stevens will co-lead the ride. Contact Julie at firstname.lastname@example.org or 413-207-1609 by September 23 to preregister and to receive an email the morning of the ride if weather forces us to cancel. (The ride is contingent upon weather conditions.)
The ride starts and ends at North Pownal Congregational Church. Faith Christian Fellowship is once again offering a mid-ride hydration station on Burrington Road at Hoppy Valley Organics, Pownal’s landmark hops farm, with snacks and a chance to chat and take in the sweeping view of Pownal Valley.
Pownal resident Julie Mackaman and HooRWA board member Lauren Stevens will co-lead the ride. Contact Julie at email@example.com by September 23 to preregister and to receive an email the morning of the ride if it must be canceled due to weather. For ride cue sheets, go to this website’s main page.
