Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts students, working with Environmental Studies Prof. Elena Traister and the Massachusetts Division of Ecological Restoration’s Cindy Delpapa determined in this spring’s semester, truncated by COVID 19, that conductivity in the South Branch of the Hoosic River in North Adams is significantly higher than the North Branch, and that dams upstream of the floodchutes on the North and South Branches were allowing sediments to move through the Hoosic River system.
